Michigan's G.A.R. Memorial Hall & Museum hosts the annual Memorial Day weekend with a parade, flag placement at Rosehill Cemetery, and special tributes at the Blue Star Memorial.  There is also a ceremony on GAR Island Park following the parade each year.

A rotating exhibit in the front lobby becomes a period correct memorial to the history of Memorial Day, started by the G.A.R.  It was originally known as Decoration Day as graves of the fallen were strewn with flowers and flags

The annual parade always starts at 11 am on Memorial Day.  We encourage Veterans, Blue and Gold Star families and interested parties to join us.  If you would like to get involved with organizing, flag placements or marching in the parade please contact us at garmichigan@gmail.com
